Terms of Service

Effective date: April 29, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of tacticsjournal.com (the “Site”) and any services offered through it (together, the “Service”), operated by Tactics Journal (“we”, “us”, “our”). By accessing or using the Site, creating an account, or subscribing to our newsletter, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

The Service

Tactics Journal publishes football tactics writing, opinion posts, and a research digest. Some content is publicly available; some features (such as account-only pages) require a free account.

We do not currently charge for any feature of the Service. If we introduce paid features in the future, additional terms will apply and will be presented to you before any charge.

Accounts

You may create an account by signing in with your email address (via a sign-in link or one-time code) or by signing in with Google. You are responsible for:

  • Providing an email address that you control
  • Keeping your sign-in method (email inbox or Google account) secure
  • All activity that occurs under your account

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you represent that you have permission from a parent or legal guardian to use the Service.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, that we reasonably believe are being used fraudulently, or that have been inactive for an extended period.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to violate any law or the rights of others
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other users’ accounts, or our infrastructure
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service except as part of a coordinated disclosure agreed in writing
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service, including by sending automated traffic, scraping at a rate that degrades performance, or circumventing rate limits
  • Use the Service to send spam, malware, or harassing communications
  • Reproduce, republish, or redistribute Site content beyond what is permitted under “Content” below

Content

Our content

All content on the Site — including text, images, diagrams, video, and the underlying design and code — is owned by Tactics Journal or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws. You may:

  • Read and view the content for personal, non-commercial use
  • Quote brief excerpts with clear attribution and a link back to the original post
  • Share links to posts on social media and in private messages

You may not republish full articles or use Site content for commercial purposes without our prior written permission.

Newsletter content

Newsletter emails are intended for the recipient. You may forward individual emails to a friend; please do not redistribute them publicly or post them in full.

User-submitted content

If you send us feedback, suggestions, or other communications, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use that material to operate and improve the Service. You represent that you have the right to share whatever you send us.

Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties — including Cloudflare (hosting), Buttondown (newsletter), Resend (transactional email), and Google (optional sign-in). Your use of those services through the Site is also subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of third-party services.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Tactics analysis is editorial commentary, not professional advice. Nothing on the Site constitutes coaching, scouting, betting, financial, or legal advice.

We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any defects will be corrected.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tactics Journal will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed one hundred US dollars (USD $100), or the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, whichever is greater.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. You can sign out, unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any email, or request deletion of your account by contacting us.

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to suspend, cancel, or remove your account and your access to all or part of the Service at any time and for any reason, with or without notice and without liability to you. Reasons may include — but are not limited to — a reasonable belief that you have violated these Terms, conduct that we believe is harmful to other users or to the Service, legal or regulatory requirements, or extended account inactivity.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including Content, Disclaimers, Limitation of liability, and Governing law — will survive.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify account holders by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and, where state law applies, the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New York, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there. Nothing in this section limits any non-waivable rights you have under the law of your country of residence.
